This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about Ecosystems. We had to write some sentences in 3 columns. The first column says what I know (prior knowledge). The second column says what I discovered (new information). The third column says My new understandings (synthesis).
I learnt that an ecosystems is a life cycle and ecosystems have a decomposer, producer and consumers. Have you ever learnt about ecosystems?
This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about the Kawa of Care. Because we want to show people how to use their Chromebook using the Kawa Of Care. We had a choice to make comic strips an animation or a DLO. I made an animation with my friend Aaron. We did an animation about two ways to keep your Chromebook safe. I learnt that you should never eat near your Chromebook and drink next to your Chromebook. Have you ever made a Kawa of Care animation?
This week in the Bay Of Islands we had a tsunami alert. We had to walk up a steep hill then we all sat down. I learnt that when a tsunami is going to happen it is best for you go to a high place. When I heard the alarm I started to freak out also started to get confused, because I didn’t know what was going to happen. I also saw some people crying so I started to freak out evermore.
Also some people did a quiz with Gina when we got to the top but I just sat down and talked to my friends. Also some people got picked up by their parents, then some people went and got our bags and also brought us some water bottles, if needed. When we got our bags there were some people that were giving out free hotdogs. I had one. They we spicy but I like spicy so it's fine. When the alarm stopped we all grabbed all of Te Ngahere’s bags and we put them in a van. We walked back to school and also got an ice block. Have you ever been in a tsunami or a tsunami alert?
This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about Roy Lichtenstein. I found out that Roy Lichtenstein was born in 1923 in America. We had to make a selfportriat of our selfs. I have learnt that Lichtenstein made sculptures, murals, prints and ceramics. Have you ever done a selfportriat using Ben Day dots?
On September 25 Paihia School did Cross Country. When it was my race we had to run around a field, next we had to run into a paddock then up a hill, and run all the way back to the finish line. After my race I was puffed out and so tired but I enjoyed it.
In Te Maunga we have been learning about Poetry. I learnt about similes when I read through a book, I found a simile in a book called waiting. This is the simile (like diners at a fine restaurant.) Also a simile is when you compare two things, using like or as.
